In addition to 24-hour nursing care and medication management, three types of general therapy services are provided in our care communities: physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech language pathology. Each patient is evaluated by our therapy team and will receive the appropriate amount of therapies needed.

Physical Therapy

Our physical therapists evaluate the patients overall condition and develop the best individualized plan of care. Our physical therapists will concentrate on improving mobility, increasing strength, range of motion, and balance. As well as reducing pain and improving overall physical fitness to achieve a high level of function to return home safely.

Evaluations may include the following assessments:

  • Joint and Muscle Pain
  • Range of Motion
  • Muscle Strength and Tone
  • Coordination
  • Sensation
  • Balance
  • Mobility
  • Posture
  • Gait

Occupational Therapy

Our occupational therapists work to restore our’ abilities to adequately perform self-care and work-related tasks, as well as social and leisure activities. Our occupational therapy areas feature realistic home environments within our care communities. Residents simulate normal routines such as:

  • Gardening
  • Checking the Mail
  • Laundry
  • Cooking
  • Getting In and Out of Bed

Our therapists often conduct home visits to determine safety concerns and equipment needs. Therapists may recommend environmental or routine modifications that would allow the patient to function better at home. This provides a smooth transition back into the home which ensures that the patient and their family members are confident and comfortable with their return home.

Speech Therapy

Our speech therapists are specially trained to evaluate each patient and develop individualized plans of care to treat communication, swallowing, and memory loss disorders. These disorders can arise from hearing problems, cognitive conditions, or be the result of a stroke or an accident. Our speech therapists treat a wide range of impairments such as aphasia, swallowing and/or voice disorders, and other communication problems. Many different treatment interventions can be used, such as behavior modification, cognitive strategies, and swallowing compensatory techniques to achieve a patient’s highest optimal independence.
